"THE DEFENSE" REVIEWS

I bought "The Defense" yesterday and couldn't put it down. It was the most riveting book I've read in years. The book is an amazing story about hope and perseverance. Everyone has challenges in life and it's great to see a story about overcoming any challenge. There is always someone in life telling you that something is wrong with you- weight, height, color of skin, creed etc.- so it was very inspirational to me to see people can overcome those insults. A must read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Defense constitutes a fantastic one-novel cheering section for all of us who don't fit the mode of the Perfect 1O. Author Stacy Lynn Schlegl deserves readers' commendation for going to bat for the non-perfect among us, and for championing loving the human race in its entirety without judgmentalism or prejudice and bigotry.  In addition, a strong story line and lovable, appealing characters make The Defense a book that readily earned its place on this reader's Keeper Shelf.

Some of us need to lose some weight and feel better about what we do look like. Some of us are thin and judgemental.  Some of us have gone through trauma and have personality quirks-but all of us have the inner desire to want to be loved unconditionally and the book (The Defense) helps you to find that inside and encourages you to find that inner strength.  If you read one ebook this year, take time and make it Stacey's book.  You'll appreciate the thought and attention to detail that went into its creation.

The Defense
is one of those books that you can not put down and I marvelled at how much Sam gave herself to help others.

This is an amazing novel.  It touched me with its message and made me think about myself.  I highly recommend this story to every woman.  It is so much more than a fabulous romance.  This is a lesson about excepting yourself and loving yourself.

Ms. Stacey Lynn Schlegl does a good job of intertwining the support characters with the lives of Sam and Bruce. They face a myriad of situations which allow Bruce glimpses of Sam’s life even though she tries so hard to withdraw. The parents are examples of how tough it can be to try to live up to someone else’s expectations. Ms. Schlegl does an excellent job of representing the extremes in parenthood!

The Defense
, the fat defense, is a wonderful representation of how situations can determine a person’s outlook on life. When a woman comes into the clinic that had been attacked and raped in a strangely similar circumstance to Sam’s own, she wondered if it could be the same person even after six years. This poignant glimpse of the horror of her past is just one problem she must overcome. The book is an excellent work of art...

Defenses have a way of keeping us safe, but they can also hold us back.  Samantha needs to learn the difference and Bruce helps her see that.  Stacey is able to express that not only in the way Samantha responds to different people but also her ability to finally overcome obstacles that were holding her back.  Steamy romance is a beautiful thing to see especially between women of size.

The Defense...This is a beautiful and touching story of self acceptance, forgiveness, inspiration and unconditional love, no matter your size, sex, color or race. Samantha is a character that anyone can relate to and feel sympathy for. In a society, where size 18 is more common than a size 8, people of the larger size are looked down upon because what’s inside of them isn’t as easy to see. It’s easy to have compassion for Sam’s plight because we’ve all been a book judged only by our cover.

The Defense
will surprise you as well as Sam. I think this is well worth the time, and brings to mind all that life should be about. Sam and Bruce have to journey together to overcome the problems Sam's past has caused for her, and maybe, just maybe Bruce is more than he appears on the surface. Be sure to stop by
Aspen Mountain Press to see if Bruce and Sam can overcome the obstacles that threaten to keep them apart, and to see if Bruce can get past The Defense.

"PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS" REVIEWS

There are so many ups and downs in this novel that I can guarantee that you will find many things to love!  The characters are solid and diverse. I laughed and cried.  The ending is a big surprise!  I recommend this book wholeheartedly as one for the keeper shelf!

...I loved the message behind the words of this story. Here was a woman who did not have the means to earn a lot of money, but had a “different” way to earn the money to support herself, her child, and her mother. I admire the way that she took the opportunity to make the money without actually doing anything that she considered unethical. This book definitely goes to show that not everything is as cut and dry as we all think it is.

Preconceived Notions tells the story of the strength of a woman for her child and mother. The reader will discover much love and happiness, as Tiffany seeks to protect Elli. With real characters, each with their own distinct voice, this tale shows how one woman refuses to allow gossip to interrupt her life until it touches her family. Stacey Lynn Schlegl adds some believability to a town that learns sometimes just because someone might perceive things one way does not mean they are true. And learning from someone’s mistake is often hard but lends a worthwhile learning experience.

4 cups given which means an Outstanding Great Readhttp://www.coffeetimeromance.com/BookReviews/Preconceivednotions.html

Preconceived Notions is a tender story of the road to redemption not only in the hearts of lovers but in the eyes of community and most importantly, of the self. It is a reminder to ‘love thy neighbor as thyself’, and that the last part of that commandment is vital to the first part.

This is a sweet book with a great plot: judge not lest ye be judged.  The glass house adage is recurrent during conversations in the story.  Tiffany is portrayed as an extremely proud and private woman and it is very admirable that she manages to go all those years without ever trying to correct all the nosy busybodies in her hometown because she does not feel that she needs to defend herself.  Tiffany’s mother adds insight to the story as the reader can sense all of her emotions about Tiffany and her life; she is also the model for which Tiffany’s determination has come from.
